Alexander Michael Tjahjadi

Alexander Michael Tjahjadi is a researcher and consultant working on a secondment from Think Policy Indonesia for the Special Staff of the President of the Republic of Indonesia. At Think Policy, he leads the Intelligence Unit (TIU) to ensure knowledge management, build the Sustainable Growth Lab, and provide advisory services.

Additionally, he has worked with the World Bank under the East Asia Pacific Gender Innovation Lab (EAPGIL) on multiple projects related to education, governance, and financial competitiveness. He has also assisted the Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Economic Development (PROSPERA) with their labor and skills projects in the education sector. 

Michael has extensive knowledge of various topics in development economics, including education, human capital, digital economics, governance, and financial inclusion. He is an expert in impact evaluation, research project management, and microeconometrics. 

Prior to his current role, Michael worked with organizations such as Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) Southeast Asia, ERIA, INOVASI, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Svara Institute, and Article 33.

Michael graduated from Universitas Gadjah Mada with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and is currently enrolled in the Master of Philosophy program at Sekolah Tinggi Filsafat (STF) Driyarkara to research epistemology in economics based on von Mises's books. Additionally, he received the Australia Awards in Indonesia as a Nusantara Scholar, which he used to study for a Master of Public Policy and Management at Monash University Indonesia. 

Michael has also completed short courses and summer schools at the Paris School of Economics, Oxford University, and Harvard University.
