Alexander Michael Tjahjadi is a researcher and consultant for the World Bank, Think Policy Indonesia, and Article 33.
He worked with the World Bank's East Asia Pacific Gender Innovation Lab (EAPGIL) for Female Household Heads Survey Project. He also helped the World Bank Jakarta Office, especially the Governance and Education team. Both projects are about impact evaluation.
Moreover, he is the Lead project for the Sustainable Growth Lab, a Think Policy Indonesia initiative for developing the Economic Complexity Index and Economic Diagnostics.
Michael is knowledgeable about various topics in development economics, including education, environment, health, governance, and financial inclusion. He has expertise in impact evaluation, research project management, and microeconometrics.
He previously worked for Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) Southeast Asia, ERIA, INOVASI, the Ministry of Education and Culture, and the Svara Institute.
He graduated from Universitas Gadjah Mada with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. Concurrently, he is enrolled in the Master of Philosophy program at Sekolah Tinggi Filsafat (STF) Driyarkara to research Epistemology in economics based on von Mises's books.
He also received Australia Awards in Indonesia as a Nusantara Scholar, which is used to study for a Master of Public Policy and Management at Monash University Indonesia.
He had completed short courses and summer schools at the Paris School of Economics, Oxford University, and Harvard University.
